Multi-generational, multi-national Bonkers Postbag!

I have some beautiful quilt pieces from three different countries, and a heartwarming story to share with you today.
Alla lives in Slovakia, but she was inspired by the Manx quilting method which originated in the Isle of Man in the UK. She made four tiny Manx blocks and joined them together to create that traditional design, and I love that she used eco-dyed and recycled fabrics, it looks really cool.
Jenny from the UK is Bonkers Crew Marian’s sister, so she’s been inspired to join us and created these sweet smaller pieces in different shapes and sizes, which will be ideal for filling all those wonky spaces I still have left. Some of Marian’s family came to our Stitchy Corner too, and her grandchildren Jake, Barnaby and Florence also added pieces to the quilt.
Becky from the US sent four of the prettiest Suffolk puffs - two of them are the traditional circular shape, but embellished with beautiful delicate embroidery, the other two are heart-shaped, so pretty. Becky tells me that they were made during 2020, that terrible time. She spent some of the time sitting and stitching these with her daughter Amanda and two small granddaughters Abby and Clara - what a lovely story, they will make a very special addition to the quilt.
There are so many heartwarming stories wrapped up in this quilt, and such a lot of love has gone into it, it really can’t help but be beautiful!
