The End is in Sight!

After many months and hundreds of hours of work, the quilt top is now finished!! It’s now ready to be backed and tied, then it needs a binding to finish it off and hanging loops on the back.
My husband, John, is a volunteer at our local park, and the Warden there kindly allowed me to use their meeting room, where they have lots of space, tables, and good natural light. I was able to spread the quilt out flat, to make it easier to square it up and add the backing.
John went ahead with the actual quilt top, while I took my scissors, pins, needles and thread, as well as the beautiful antique damask tablecloths which were donated by Jen from our Discord community - one of them will make a perfect backing.
When I arrived, John had already put the quilt out for me, and I was so touched by the enthusiasm shown by all the lovely staff at the park, it was really encouraging and I hadn’t expected such a reaction.
One of the guys suggested taking a photo of the back of the quilt, and I’m so glad he did, because it looks really cool.
It was a bit of a struggle, as I’d never done this before, and our quilt is a bit wonky, but I managed to square it up and get the backing tacked on, and I marked out a grid for the ties, which will be placed about 10cm all over the quilt, to tie all the layers together.
I also used the time to finish a couple of jobs, like attaching the “lost and found” piece in the picture above.
Now all that’s left is to fill some more spaces which I had to create in order to square it up, then the tying and binding and finally I need to work out how to do the hanging loops - which will have to go on all four sides, as there is no “right way up” for the Bonkers Quilt!
